The position was issued at the Cabinet’s regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, chaired by Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. Qatar also expressed full solidarity with the four countries and support for measures they take to protect their security.
The Cabinet called for an immediate and complete halt to military action threatening stability across the wider region. It also urged restraint from further steps capable of expanding the conflict. Qatar’s statement is consistent with the country’s established public emphasis on diplomatic solutions to regional crises.
The government asked all parties to return seriously to dialogue and negotiation and said agreements reached through previous diplomatic efforts should be respected. The appeal comes as renewed attacks increase uncertainty for air transport, trade and energy operations across the Gulf as well as for residents.
The effects of escalation are not limited to locations directly struck. Gulf Cooperation Council states are connected by transport corridors, supply chains and security cooperation. Any widening of hostilities can affect passenger movement, cargo insurance, shipping schedules and companies’ confidence in maintaining regional operations.
Qatar’s statement does not announce restrictions on ordinary life or new instructions for residents and travellers. Practical decisions should therefore be based on current official information from Qatari authorities and transport operators. Older or unverified social-media reports may no longer describe the operational situation accurately.
At the same meeting, the Cabinet also considered domestic matters including draft cloud-computing legislation and revised competition rules. The extraordinary regional statement nevertheless shows that neighbouring countries’ security remains an immediate concern and that Doha continues to base its public position on de-escalation and negotiation.
