Qatar Chamber discusses new investment opportunities with Kazakhstan

Qatar Chamber has held talks with Kazakhstan on expanding trade and investment between the two countries. The meeting brought together the chamber’s acting general manager, Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansori, and Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Qatar, Bakhyt Batyrshayev, as both sides reviewed the current level of economic cooperation.

Discussions focused on bilateral commercial ties, the investment environment and sectors in which new joint projects may be developed. The Qatari side called for more frequent visits by business delegations and direct company meetings that can turn broad government relations into identifiable projects and contracts.

Kazakhstan highlighted opportunities in infrastructure, transport, services, tourism and mining. These industries have different investment horizons and regulatory requirements. Access to defined projects, suitable local partners, financing and clear legal protection will therefore matter more to investors than a general list of promising sectors.

The ambassador described Qatar as an important regional partner for Kazakhstan and noted existing Qatari investments in construction, banking and energy. The latest discussions are intended to broaden that base. Published information, however, does not state a value for proposed contracts or identify projects that have already reached agreement.

Both sides supported reviving the Qatar-Kazakhstan joint business council. Such a body can connect companies regularly, address practical obstacles and organise sector-focused visits. Its real importance will be measured by how often it meets, whether companies receive usable project information and how many proposals proceed to implementation.

The proposals also include stronger participation by companies in trade fairs and economic events in both countries. Kazakhstan invited Qatari investors to visit and assess opportunities on the ground, while Qatar Chamber offered a platform through which visiting Kazakh delegations can meet local business owners and potential partners.

The meeting confirms political willingness to deepen economic cooperation, but the process remains at a preparatory stage. Measurable next steps would include formally reactivating the business council, publishing a timetable for delegations and announcing specific investments. Those results will show which of the discussed sectors actually generate new business.
